Water restrictions imposed in Midway

Midway has put water restrictions in place until further notice due to drought.

“We are asking everyone to reduce non-essential water usage to help keep water in our reservoirs at acceptable levels,” the village said today.

Watering of yards and gardens is now restricted to two hours per day per household, anytime between 6 p.m. and 10 a.m.

The village says it reserves the right to disconnect water to anyone who violates the rules or wastes water. A minimum $50 fee will be charged to restore service.

Even if you have your own well, you’re still being asked to moderate your water use, because all Midway water comes from the same aquifer.

The village said the province will monitor the Kettle River watershed. If the village’s water reductions don’t do the trick, further water restrictions could be imposed.
