UPDATED: Grand Forks city manager resigns

Grand Forks city manager Doug Allin is leaving.

He’s resigning as of March 24 although there’s no word where he’s going.

Allin was hired to run the city in October 2012. He was fired in late 2014 but re-hired soon after by the new council.

Mayor Frank Konrad says Allin’s departure wasn’t a total surprise, but he’s sorry to see him go.

Konrad says they don’t know yet if they’ll launch a search for his replacement or promote from within.

Allin wasn’t available for comment on Tuesday, but in a prepared statement said: “I would like to thank the council and staff for their hard work and dedication over the last several years. It has been a pleasure to serve the community and be a part of the development of the organization.”
