New commander found for Boundary air cadets

The Grand Forks air cadets have officially welcomed a new commanding officer.

Maj. David Kerr is taking over from now-retired Lt. Randy Frank, who will continue to work as a civilian instructor.

Major Kevin DeBiasio with the West Kootenay cadet program explains not just anyone can be a commanding officer.

DeBiasio, a longtime friend of both the new commanding officer and the previous one, says he’s sorry to see Frank go.

Maj. Kerr will commute back and forth from his home in Penticton until a local resident can be trained to take his place.

The air cadets meet at the Grand Forks Legion Hall every Tuesday, and welcome new members aged 12 to 18 from Grand Forks, Christina Lake, Midway, and Greenwood.
