Some changes have been made at Boundary Hospital after a shooting incident a few months ago.
Interior Health administrator Jane Cusden says they’ve completed an internal review of the incident.
As a result the emergency room entrance through the ambulance bay is now locked at all times.
From 6 a.m. to 8 p.m., Interior Health is asking people to access the emergency department through the main entrance to the hospital.
The ambulance entrance remains the after-hours access to the emergency department. Patients can use an intercom to let staff know they are there and staff buzz them in. There is also a video camera in place so staff can see people waiting at the door.
A man walked in through the ambulance bay in January and shot himself.
