New Fortis centre approved for Castlegar

A multi-million dollar project has been approved for the city of Castlegar.

The new Fortis BC Kootenay Operations Centre will happen after receiving approval from the BC Utilities Commission.

City councilor Kevin Chernoff says it will bring in a number of jobs once the facility is open.

He says ground could be broken for the operations centre in Ootischenia by May.

The 30,000 sq ft project is expected to cost $ 13 million.
