Local outdoors group reacts to Kokanee plan

A local outdoors group is reacting to the province’s plan to replenish Kokanee stocks in Kootenay Lake.

Gord Grunerud, President of the West Arm Outdoors Club, is happy to see measures will be taken.

The plan will be posted for public review by the end of the month.

The province has stated it will be a five year plan.

But Grunerud says given the life-cycles of Kokanee it could take up to ten years to see stocks properly rebound.

Results from the latest annual count of the fish turned up just 18,000.
