Feeding wild turkeys in Castlegar could cost you!
This after city council chose to amend an existing bylaw to add turkeys to the list of wild animals who should not be fed.
Once the amendment passes a $50 fine will be imposed on anyone caught feeding them.
City councilor Deb McIntosh says enjoy them …but don’t feed them.

Last year the city posted a first-of- its-kind “Turkey Crossing” sign on Columbia Avenue to address the traffic issues the birds are causing.
It’s near a vacant lot where a flock of the birds have taken roost.
