UPDATED: Grand Forks team eliminated from Amazing Race Canada

A Grand Forks mother and son was the first team eliminated on this new season of CTV’s The Amazing Race Canada.

Funeral directors Aaron and Deb Baker struggled in Vancouver, where Deb had to walk a tight rope above the Fairmont Hotel Vancouver. They became the first team eliminated at the Van Dusen Botanical Garden’s hedge-maze.

“It’s just heartbreaking to have to go out first, but there are no words to describe how excited I am to have actually been a part of this with my mom,” Aaron said in a news release.

Deb added: “[Aaron] and I have this really special bond. Our bond is unbreakable.”

The Bakers will appear live on Wednesday on several talk shows to discuss their elimination from the show, including Your Morning, CP24 Breakfast, The Social, and ETalk.

Last night’s episode airs again Saturday at 8 p.m. and Sunday at  5 p.m. on CTV and CTV GO.

The other local team, however, finished first. Rosslanders Ryan Lachapelle and Kenneth McAlpine won a trip to Barcelona.
