Grand Forks fire and rescue almost had a big problem on their hands last Thursday.
They were called to Wilgress Lake near Eholt for a car fire but civilians put it out before crews arrived.
Fire chief Dale Heriot says this hardly ever happens.
There were no injuries.
It took crews about 12 minutes to arrive.
