City orders Whispers of Hope, BETHS to close

The City of Grand Forks has ordered two organizations that help the homeless to close.

They decided Wednesday that Friday is the last day for Whispers of Hope and the Boundary Emergency Transition Housing Society.

Mayor Frank Konrad says the decision was made to ensure the community’s safety.

Whispers is a community kitchen and thrift store while BETHS is an extreme weather shelter.

The mayor says the next step is continuing to assemble a task force.

A Whispers representative said they will comment next week.
