The only female contestant took home the gold at the Grand Forks and District Fall Fair’s demolition derby.
Alyssa Welwood stepped in for Natasha St. Pierre, who originally won the car raffle to take part in the event.
Welwood says she would compete again next year.
She also says she didn’t have any derby experience prior to competing, but did get some pointers from a friend in the industry.
