Invasive fish found in Kettle River

The Kettle River is now home to an invasive species, but wildlife groups need to know which one.

Reports surfaced in late August of large-mouthed bass and were later confirmed, but there might be small-mouthed bass too.

Both would endanger our ecosystems including the rainbow trout population.

Senior fisheries biologist Tara White says they need confirmation before taking any further steps.

White says if you catch a bass, record your location, store it in a freezer, and contact fish and wildlife in Penticton.
