A 24-year-old man is facing charges after two incidents in Grand Forks.
On Friday at about 2:30 p.m. RCMP responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle at a business in the 1600 block of Central Avenue. While investigating, they were informed that a man stole a bike helmet and back pack from a youth at another nearby business.
Police found the suspect a short distance away, but he escaped. A police dog was used to help look for him, but he wasn’t found.
The next day about 9:15 a.m., police responded to a break and enter in progress in the 7500 block of 6th Street. They determined it was the same guy from the day before. He was arrested after putting up a fight. Two officers suffered minor injuries.
The suspect, who is not from Grand Forks, faces charges including assaulting a police officer, possession of stolen property, break and enter, attempted arson, and breach of conditions.
He’s been remanded in custody pending a court date.
Police say several pieces of stolen property were recovered and are being returned to their owners.
