Fatalities on Kootenay/Boundary roads dropped 64% in five years

Fatalities on local roads dropped 64 per cent between 2010 and 2015 and injuries were down 33 per cent.

Ministry of Transportation traffic engineer Ryan Oakley attributes that to a number of things.

But Oakley says the actual numbers are small, so a modest change can result in a big percentage swing.

He spoke this week to the Regional District of Central Kootenay board about the shift into winter campaign.

December sees more crashes than any other month.
