City council and media were invited to the new fire training facility at the Grand Forks airport this week.
Councillor Julia Butler was in attendance, and geared up with the fire department to put out a house fire, gas fire, and car fire.
Chief Dale Heriot says the training grounds still have a ways to go.
Phase 2 of the training facility finished in spring.
Phase 3 will see the installation of a fire hydrant so crews won’t need the fire engine to supply water.
