Some good news for residents in rural Grand Forks as the volunteer firefighter shortage issue has been resolved.
This from Assistant Fire Chief Kevin McKinnon as the once underserved North Fork area has bolstered it’s volunteer staff.
Last fall it was reported that only three volunteers were on hand to serve the rural area.
McKinnon says the seven new members all live in areas where they can respond to the North Fork Fire Hall.
He says if the current grade rating was lost it could have seen as much as a 250% increase to insurance rates.
