CUPE 2254 members ratify new contract with RDKB

A new collective agreement is in place, following the completion of contract negotiations between CUPE 2254 and the Regional District of Kootenay Boundary.

CUPE members held a ratification meeting Tuesday evening where 89% of members voted in favour of the agreement, and the RDKB ratified the agreement at their meeting yesterday.

“We are pleased to have concluded this round of negotiations and to have reached a fair agreement for both workers and taxpayers,” says CUPE National Representative and lead negotiator John Hall. “The tone during negotiations was very respectful which is really positive and we look forward to continuing to work with the RDKB to provide community services.

The three-year agreement runs from January 1, 2017 to December 31, 2019 and includes a 2% wage increase in each year of the contract.
