Greenwood plates stolen, vehicle burned

A local man is confused after his license plates were stolen at Greenwood’s Race Trac Gas over the weekend.
Around 11:20 p.m. Saturday, thieves were captured on surveillance video taking the plates off a van then appearing to put the plates on a different vehicle.
Victim Brad Schamber says that was despite potential witnesses in the area.
That night a U-Haul truck was towed from a location near Rilkoffs store in Grand Forks but then stolen from Mid-Nytes Towing.
On Sunday afternoon that truck was found in Greenwood and a Honda Odyssey was found burnt and abandoned in the Fisherman’s Creek area with Schamber’s plates.
Mid-Nytes Towing has confirmed that the U-Haul truck was stolen.
The RCMP were made aware but haven’t returned our calls yet.
