Grand Forks RCMP kept busy in 2017

Quarterly Crime statistics for the Grand Forks RCMP were presented in council chambers Monday.

The stats show 2016 and 2017’s second and third quarters.

2017 had more than twice as many reported assaults in Grand Forks compared to 2016.

There were no reported robbery or homicide attemps, and reported sexual offenses mostly remained static.

Auto theft almost doubled but theft from motor vehicles declined between 2016 and 2017.

Break and enters went down from 6 in 2016 to 4 in 2017 between April, May and June.

But July, August and September saw 6 in 2016 and 20 in 2017.

Total cases for violent persons, property damage, and total criminal offenses all went up in 2017.

Over all last year had over 100 more calls for service than the year prior, between Grand Forks and Christina Lake.
