Cannings weighs in on wine

A local federal politician has a keen interest in the feud between the BC and Alberta governments.

South Okanagan-West Kootenay’s Richard Cannings says both governments are looking out for what’s best for their provinces.

He adds its Alberta Premier Rachel Notley’s duty to ensure Alberta’s oil and gas sectors are successful.

Cannings has heard concerns from his constituents working in the wine sector who are concerned about Alberta’s ban on BC wines.

He says there isn’t much the federal government can do help provinces reach an agreement.

Cannings was in Castlegar this week to bring city council up to speed with his private members bill which would force the feds to consider using wood for infrastructure projects.
