Local Search and Rescue have been reflecting on the recovery of the man who died in an avalanche outside Castlegar.
Gord Ihlen with Castlegar SAR was the search manager. Four different SAR teams were involved in the hunt for the sledder Tuesday.
While it was not the desired outcome Ihlen says it was important to locate the sledder.
The man’s machine had been spotted half-submerged in the avalanche late Monday night but it was too dangerous and avalanche technicians had to bomb the area early Tuesday before teams got on to the snow.
