Grand Forks Mayor and Council React to FOI Requests
Since 2014 FOI Requests have seen an increase.
Freedom of Information, and FOI requests were hot topics at Monday’s Grand Forks city council meeting.
Council was recommended to include a $20,000 expense in their 2018 Financial Plan due to FOI requests.
Since 2014 the city has received an increasing amount these requests.
City Councillor Christine Thomson says it takes up valuable time and resources.
Mayor Frank Konrad says it’s too big of an issue to ignore despite how the situation could seem.
The City is able to charge for a portion of the services required but any redaction or legal costs are not covered.
