City Council Reconsiders Solar Now Project

Grand Forks city council thinks solar energy is a bright idea.

The Solar Now Project was brought back for reconsideration at Monday’s regular council meeting, after it was defeated about 2 weeks ago, and it passed!

Councillor Colleen Ross says Grand Forks has a unique opportunity.

Councillor Julia Butler says it’s hard to keep up with rapidly-evolving technology.

Mayor Frank Konrad says he’s grateful to have had more time to think about it

The project includes a $65,000 budget to install solar panels.

40,000 will be paid by the city through their Climate Action Revenue Incentive Program reserve fund.

The remaining costs will be paid through grant funding.
