Man arrested in assault at Grand Forks store

A 28-year-old man is expected to face charges after an alleged assault at the Buy-Low Foods in Grand Forks on Wednesday.

RCMP say they responded to the complaint shortly before noon and learned an employee of Buy-Low Foods confronted the suspect when he tried to take a grocery cart from the business.

Police say it’s alleged the suspect hit the employee three times in the head. Witnesses helped police by providing video of the suspect taking off with the shopping cart.

At 12:30 p.m. RCMP located the suspect, who was also in violation of court-ordered release conditions. They tried to arrest him but he ran away.
