Volunteer Group Spends Earth Day Cleaning Grand Forks

Earth Day 2018 marked the last cleanup around Grand Forks for a local volunteer group, at least until after high-water season. The group started on 1st Street before dispersing, cleaning riverbanks and more from Riverside Drive to the black train bridge. Volunteer CloAnne Morasse says that’s not all they helped with!

Morasse adds that “Motto” was a worse mess than most transient camps they’ve seen. She also says the group has grown in size.

The group does not disassemble inhabited camps and monitors them to better understand how respective camps should be handled. This time nobody found a single needle which Morasse suggests is a sign that what they’re doing makes a difference. She also says they owe thanks!

Transient camps are monitored to some degree, and might be disassembled if abandoned.
