River-Levels Decline, Damage Assessment Continues

Flooding is not over yet in the Boundary but it’s looking better. River-levels are declining in the Kettle, West Kettle, and Granby Rivers. Regional District of Kootenay Boundary Emergency Operations Center Director Chris March explains.

He says the situation is looking up for now.

Marsh adds that Rapid Damage Assessment is underway.

People from outside of Grand Forks wishing to volunteer are asked to find a way to support in their own community to limit stress on the sewer system, grocery stores, and traffic. Residents are asked to keep their sandbags in place until otherwise instructed. There are currently about 1500 residences on evacuation order, and any orders that are lifted will be reduced to evacuation alerts.
