Taking Precautions When Returning Home

As evacuation orders rescind and residents return home following historic flooding in the Boundary, you’ll want to take the proper steps when going back to your house.

Emergency Management BC warns that you should do a perimeter check of your house before entering. Photographing and keeping records of damage is crucial, and keeping track of expenses and time spent cleaning will help when applying for disaster financial assistance. Have your wiring checked by an electrical inspector before using the power, and leave your home immediately if you smell gasoline or natural gas. When cleaning it’s important you protect your hands and eyes with rubber gloves and goggles.
