A deeper look at tipping fees for flood victims at the Grand Forks landfill. It was announced last week that tipping fees related to disposal of flood damaged materials will be covered by the province. However, the fees are not being waived, but consolidated by the RDKB and later submitted to the province for reimbursement. Demolition and construction debris must go to the class 1 landfill in either Greenwood or Grand Forks with flood waste separated between clean wood, appliances, metal, and hazardous materials. The Grand Forks landfill’s hours of operation are temporarily extended to 8:30AM to 4PM seven days a week.
