A Deeper Look At Ruckle

The threat of flooding has diminished for a lot of the Boundary but the Ruckle Area of Grand Forks is not feeling so relieved. Piles of wet, moldy garbage litter curbsides, while some residents wear respiratory masks to enter their homes. A special public meeting took place in council chambers Monday and many from Ruckle came to share their story. Ruckle resident Gail Atchison says they were up late the night before the big flood.

She adds the neighbourhood was there for each other.

She says the water was unbelievable.

Although the tragedy may be over for some, it’s not for others.

Atchison is living in the Western Traveller with other displaced families. She lost her home to a fire three years before losing this one to flooding.
