Mosquito Control Program Active in Boundary

If you’re itching to get rid of mosquitoes in the Boundary, Morrow Bioscience is already on the case. Morrow was contracted by the Regional District of Kootenay Boundary and has been active by air and ground in Grand Forks and Christina Lake for several weeks. Most control measures focus on breeding grounds where eggs are laid as spraying the adult insects is ineffective, and new generations tend to appear two to four weeks apart. A more common species in the region lay eggs in ponds and other sources of standing water. The more aggressive inland floodwater mosquitoes lays eggs in flood-prone areas which hatch when submerged in water, but eggs laid by the current generation are unlikely to hatch until the next floodwater event.
