Selkirk to continue “grass roots” recruitments

A few locally recruited hockey players were winners at the Selkirk College Saints year end awards banquet.

Fruitvale’s Arie Postmus was named the team’s best defenseman, Trail’s Dallas Calvin won rookie of the year and Ryan Edwards, also of Trail, received co-MVP honours.

Selkirk’s Athletics And Recreation Coordinator Kim Verigin says finding local student-athletes has been key to the hockey program’s success on and off the ice.

Verigin says the main focus for the school’s athletics department will remain on the hockey program.
