Market to use tents as interim measure

Nelson’s Cottonwood Market is being revamped next year, but what will it look like in the short term?

David Reid of the West Kootenay Eco Society which runs the Saturday market says it will look familiar to anyone who has been to the Baker Street summer market.

The new market structures in Railtown for next year will cost around $750,000.

Reid says a lot of that will be offset by funding through the city and Columbia Basin Trust, and a few local businesses who are donating materials to help with the project.
