The Village of Midway, and the City of Greenwood are not taking any risks this wildfire season. Statements released Friday announced campfire bans are effective immediately within municipal boundaries due to extreme, dry conditions.
In Midway no person is to light, fuel, or make use of open fires for cooking, warmth, or ceremonial purposes. Fire in stoves using gas, propane, and briquettes are however allowed.
The City of Greenwood says campfires, open burning including yard waste, and the use of fireworks are prohibited to help prevent human-caused wildfires.
