Brian Teasdale will leave the village administrator post in Montrose to become city manager in Rossland.
Rossland mayor Kathy Moore says Teasdale will start in a few weeks.
The search to fill the vacant position saw over 30 applicants.
Teasdale replaces Cecille Arnott, who resigned in December following an extended medical leave.
The city is still seeking a new chief financial officer and Moore says there are some very strong candidates.
