RDKB Receives Letter From BC Premier

The Regional District of Kootenay Boundary has received a letter from BC Premier John Horgan. In the letter, the Premiere reassures the Province is committed to flood recovery efforts, and extends his appreciation for the feedback he’s received. Also, Parliamentary Secretary Jennifer Rice has been designated to work with the RDKB and City of Grand Forks by directly reporting to Horgan with recovery progress.

RDKB Chair Roly Russel says he’s really pleased. “We went to Victoria with a few pretty, I think targeted requests, and this was one of them. To get some help having better opportunity for dialogue with the provincial government. By the time we get back from Victoria and we’re driving back from the airport, by the time we got boots back on the ground in Grand Forks we had that letter in hand.”

Russel adds that some pieces of the recovery puzzle, specifically the ones with tools in place, have gone really well. “But the pieces that demand some creative solutions which is what really we’ve been trying do for a lot of this, to figure out how do we navigate so much of this that is new to everybody, provincial and local government, those pieces we need conversation to figure out how to work through and around and over obstacles.”

The next Boundary Flood Recovery Update Meeting goes Wednesday, November 21st at 6PM, in Grand Forks Secondary School’s Bistro.
