Cat Makes Himself At Home in Greenwood City Hall

The City of Greenwood’s potential new mascot strolled into their lives yesterday, but perhaps you need them back in yours.

Andrea Sherstobitoff with the City of Greenwood explains. “We decided to let him in, he was very pleased to come inside so he’s been hanging around the office all morning and he’s enjoying himself. He’s been migrating from desktop to desktop, he kind of curls up where we’re working and just kinda [sic] hangs out, and he’s great!”

The “City Hall Cat” is black with green eyes, and has a little white star on his belly. Last night’s city council meeting was interrupted when the friendly feline was noticed waiting by the door, so they let him inside.

Sherstobitoff says there are pictures of their new roommate online. “They don’t capture his true character and quality…. he’s really quite lovely, quite beautiful. He was a little bit shocked to have his picture taken so early in the morning but when he saw his picture on my computer screen when I was trying to put together the poster he came right up to my screen, and was nosing his way, and he actually approved of the images.”

She adds that they’d rather keep him inside for safety reasons so that it’s easy to return him. If you know the original owner, or you’d like to sponsor “City Hall Cat” for a few nights, call 250-445-6644 or head to 202 S. Government Avenue.
