RCMP say a man is facing multiple charges after being arrested following a chase through the Boundary in a stolen truck.
They say around around 4:45 a.m. on Thursday they were notified of a truck being stolen from Christina Lake. The owner posted something on social media about the crime and by 12:20 p.m., someone alerted them that the truck had been spotted heading west on Highway 3.
Officers from Grand Forks then started making their way toward Greenwood while an officer from Midway went to intercept the stolen truck. Police say just east of Greenwood, it was clear the truck wasn’t stopping so they deployed a spike belt.
The truck ran over the belt, but continued on to Greenwood, where officers caught up with it and safely guided it off the road, where it struck the ditch and came to rest on its side. The driver was arrested without further incident.
Michael Scott Miller, 41, from Oliver, faces facing multiple charges ranging from pssession of stolen property to driving offences, to breaches of previous release orders. In addition, there were two outstanding warrants for his arrest out of Kamloops and Surrey. Miller is in custody in Grand Forks awaiting a bail hearing.
“This was an exceptional response between two different detachments and our dispatch operators in Kelowna to coordinate this matter and apprehend the suspect,” Sgt. Darryl Peppler said in a news release. “Everything came together quickly allowing us to apprehend a suspect during the commission of a crime and bring them before the courts.”
