Grand Forks Border Bruins’ Tyler Burke and Logan McCabe have been selected as the Kootenay International Junior Hockey League Stars of the Week for the period ending March 23/25.
Burke was named the top forward with the Vernon native scoring four goals and added two assists in two games and had a plus three rating to help the Border Bruins sweep the Beaver Valley Nitehawks in the second round.
In Game 3, a 4-3 overtime win on March 18, Burke scored twice, including the winner, and had three points.
In Game 4 on March 19, Burke again had another two goal, three-point performance, including the winner, in a 6-2 final.
Burke averaged 24:42 of playing time in the two games. In eight KIJHL Teck Cup playoff games, Burke has five goals and 11 points.
McCabe claimed top defenceman , with the Edmonton native has earned his second straight Top Defenceman nod after having two goals and two assists for the Border Bruins, helping them sweep the Nitehawks.
He did so while logging 32:52 a game and was plus two.
In Game 3, McCabe scored and assisted on Burke’s overtime winner in a 4-3 final.
In Game 4, McCabe had another goal and two-point performance in a 6-2 final. In eight games, McCabe leads all KIJHL blueliners with four goals and 11 points.

The Border Bruins will enter round three of the KIJHL playoffs against the Kimberley Dynamiters starting this week.
