Castlegar seeks bike grant

The City Of Castlegar is applying for a grant from the BC Government to improve cycling and pedestrian infrastructure.

Councilor Florio Vassilakakis says the Bridge To Bridge project would link an existing bike path along Columbia Avenue across the river via the highway off-ramp and Kinnaird Bridge.

This connection would allow commuters to move safely between Ootischenia and Selkirk College, and safety barriers would be added to the existing bike path.

It’s estimated to cost $150,000, the BC bike grant would fund a maximum 50% of that.
