Taps and Tapas returns for fourth event

This year’s Taps and Tapas at the Gallery 2 Grand Forks Art Gallery looks to be the maturing of the event.

That from Director/Curator Tim Van Wjke, who says the 4th edition to the Gallery-fundraiser is estimated to see 250 people!

“Last year the reaction was fabulous, people responded really well to having a summer event and it’s great to enjoy this facility from the outdoors, this year as well I anticipate we’re going to have our new feature lighting on the building so it’s going to look even better than ever.”

He adds last year saw about 200 people come out. The summer fundraiser for the Gallery is an opportunity to taste a variety of beers from regional breweries. One new addition this year is the event’s partnering with local restaurants.

Wjke says it will help serve food sustainably:

“The other piece we’d like to do is spread around the benefit a little bit of events like this…. We see ourselves as the sort of cultural centre of the community, and it’s great to be able to involve other businesses from the downtown and get them exposure.”

The restaurants are the Thyme and Plate, Boardroom Cafe, and Wooden Spoon Bistro. This year’s event features 14 regional breweries including ones from Nelson, Trail, Rossland, and more. The event goes at 7PM on August 16th at the Gallery 2 Grand Forks Art Gallery. Tickets are available online.
