Border Bruins take player-of-the-week honors

Two of the three KIJHL players of the week are Grand Forks Border Bruins.

Local product Ben Edwards was named top defenceman. He had a goal and six assists to help the Border Bruins win four straight games last week. He assisted on the tying goal to make it 6-6 against Nelson, and had a goal and two assists against Chase. He also assisted on the goal that gave Grand Forks a 2-0 lead on Kamloops and had two assists against 100 Mile House. Edwards is third on the team in points with two goals and 13 points in 11 games.

Meanwhile, Ethan Shebansky was top goalie. The Edmonton product stopped 109 of 115 shots in four games for a .948 save percentage and 1.87 goals against average. He made 25 saves in 34:35 of action to earn an OT win against Nelson, then made 36 saves in a win against Chase and 33 in a win against Kamloops. Shebansky stopped 15 of 16 shots against 100 Mile House before sustaining an injury. In nine games, Shebansky has six wins to go with a .930 save percentage and a 2.44 average.

The Border Bruins are atop the Neil Murdoch Division with a record of 8-3-1.
