Charges laid in relation to fatal 2023 shooting in Grand Forks

Grand Forks RCMP have charged 44-year-old Sean Tiessen of Grand Forks with manslaughter in relation to an Apr. 2023, shooting that claimed the life of a 33-year-old man.

In a statement, Grand Forks RCMP officials said that the suspect, who was known to the victim, was initially taken into police custody at the scene but later released.

A nearly year-long investigation into the incident was conducted by the BC RCMP’s Serious Crime Unit, leading to the charges against Tiessen, who was arrested again on Mar. 28 and later released on conditions as he waits for an upcoming court appearance.

The matter is now before the courts and no further details will be shared.

The RCMP thanks the community for their patience, while investigators thoroughly completed all aspects to bring this matter before the courts,” says Cpl. James Grandy, BC RCMP Spokesperson.
