Grand Forks prepares to host B.C. senior men’s baseball championship

Grand Forks is preparing to welcome teams and visitors from across the province as it hosts the 2026 B.C. Senior Men’s Provincial Championship from Friday, July 31, to Monday, Aug. 3, at James Donaldson Park.

The four-day tournament is expected to bring six of British Columbia’s top senior men’s baseball teams to the city, along with players, coaches, officials and fans.

Hosted by the Grand Forks International Baseball Society, the championship is expected to provide an economic boost for local businesses, including hotels, restaurants and retailers, while showcasing Grand Forks as a destination for provincial sporting events.

Visitors can expect a full schedule of baseball along with food vendors, a licensed beer garden and family-friendly activities throughout the tournament.

Games begin Friday with Burnaby facing Trail at 5 p.m., followed by Coquitlam against Ladysmith at 8 p.m. Round-robin play continues through the weekend before the semifinals and championship game on Monday.

Admission is $12 for adults, seniors and students for a full-day pass, while children 12 and under are admitted free. Tournament passes are available for $35, with family passes priced at $60.

Organizers said the event reflects months of planning by volunteers and community partners and offers an opportunity to showcase Grand Forks’ baseball facilities and hospitality to visitors from across British Columbia.

“Whether you’re a lifelong baseball fan or simply looking for a great summer outing, there’s something for everyone.”

The championship game is scheduled for 3 p.m. on Monday.
