You’re one step closer to being able to purchase non-medical cannabis in Grand Forks. City council tackled license recommendations for three non-medical cannabis retail stores Monday evening.
Councillor Cathy Korolek says she was pleased with Baggy Cannabis Store’s recent showing at the Public Hearing:
“I think that they had a good presentation and I think they are going into it with good planning, and they’ve got a good idea going on here”
Both Baggy’s and Quantum 1 Cannabis Corp. received positive recommendations to the province. The applicant proposed for Central Avenue was the only license denied approval.
Mayor Brian Taylor says the neighboring liquor store caused concern:
“In my mind the idea was to separate cannabis and alcohol by having a separate entrance but basically…. You have to go 50 feet in one direction to go the liquor store, I certainly have been concerned about that.”
It also failed to meet zoning bylaw requirements. The province still has the final say regarding which licences are issued.
