You have just a couple of days to do any backyard or open burning in those areas where it isn’t banned by local governments.
Our South East Fire Centre will prohibit so-called category 3 open fires as of noon Friday. This is to prevent any human-caused wildfires.
Category 3 fires are larger than 2 m high x 3 m wide. Any burning of grass or stubble over an area large than 2,00 sq metres is also banned. So too is the burning of more than two separate fires of any size.
Campfires and cooking stoves and fires under 2 m x 3 m will still be allowed.
