RDKB Pumps Saddle Lake Dam

The Regional District of Kootenay Boundary is taking steps to stay ahead of this year’s flood-season. They’re receiving 190 thousand dollars through Gas Tax funds to build a spillway to reliably manage water levels year round at Saddle Lake Dam. In the mean time they’re lowering the reservoirs water level as the project can’t begin until after the 2018 freshet. Manager of Infrastructure and Sustainability Goran Denkovski says residents shouldn’t be alarmed.

He explains how pumping can help.

Denkovski also reminds you that it’s illegal to alter any water course.

The RDKB is also helping stage over 50 thousand sandbags primarily across the Boundary.
