Council Passes Cannabis Zoning Bylaw

Grand Forks City Council gave final reading to a bylaw amendment regarding cannabis zoning at the last Regular Meeting of Council. There were some concerns from Councillor Beverly Tripp ahead of final approval.
Cannabis Production, Processing and Distribution Facilities cannot be within 100 metres of residential zones, community-use zones, or youth-centre facilities. They are also limited to specific areas in industrial zones. Councillor Chris Hammett supported the industrial-zone limitation.
She adds it’s important to have industrial development in the city.
Cannabis Retail Sites are limited to core commercial, neighbourhood commercial, and industrial zones, but cannot be within 100 metres of a community use zone, youth-centred facility, or another cannabis retail site.
