Grand Forks Fire & Rescue are already dealing with grass-fires in the area. Assistant Fire Chief Kevin Mckinnon says they received two grass-fire calls on Monday.
Mckinnon adds that while wetting down the pole may have helped, you’re recommended not to burn near infrastructure. He reminds residents that burning inside City limits is not permitted.
They’re also watching the snowpack. Mckinnon says they check it every day although it’s still a little early to tell. The numbers do look high compared to last year, however in 2017 the snow started melting about six weeks later than this year.
