Border Bruins Lace Up For Home-Opener

Exhibition is over and tomorrow night the KIJHL season is officially underway in bear country. The Grand Forks Border Bruins are 1-1-and-1 but coming off a Tuesday victory against the Osoyoos Coyotes. The Bruins face The Princeton Posse for their home-opener Friday.

Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations John Clewlow says it should be a good game. “I know the boys will have some nerves as it being the home opener but everyone seemed pretty level-headed throughout the exhibition games and everything, I want the arena as full as we can get it so there’s some excitement coming from everywhere, I’ll obviously have some nerves as it’s the start of a season but no it’s gonna be exciting for everybody and it should be good game.”

Clewlow says the team is looking good. “I’m drawing from a lot of plays that I enjoy doing and some of the stuff we’re doing in practice now it’s pretty new to the guys but they’re enjoying it, pretty fast paced except for when we get down to systems and learning new things, but the guys are looking good and they’re kind of getting ahead of the new handle of the new style of drills we’re bringing in.”

Puck drops at 7PM at Jack Goddard Memorial Arena.
