Kelowna woman drowns in Christina Lake

Grand Forks RCMP said a woman drowning in Christina Lake was a “tragic accident”.

On July 29th, RCMP, along with the Christina Lake Fire Department  and the BC Ambulance Service, responded to the Texas Creek boat launch where another boater brought in the Kelowna woman from the lake.

Sgt. Darryl Peppler with Grand Forks RCMP said the woman, in her 60’s, was camping with family and friends when she went out in a boat by herself. Peppler said the death is not suspicious as they believe drugs and alcohol were not involved.

The BC Coroners Service is now investigating the drowning.

This incident is the first reported drowning in the Grand Forks and Christina Lake area of the year.
